Visa on Arrival and e-VOA
This is the standard route for most tourists. The e-VOA and VOA are the same visa: e-VOA means applying online in advance through the official portal, VOA means paying at the airport counter on arrival. Both currently cost IDR 500,000, are valid for 30 days, and can be extended once for another 30 days (60 days total, a firm ceiling).
Apply online in advance at evisa.imigrasi.go.id or molina.imigrasi.go.id, which are the official government portals, to skip the airport queue. Be cautious of third-party websites charging additional service fees for the same visa; only these two domains and the physical airport counter are official.
Visa-Free Entry: Who Actually Qualifies Now
This has changed significantly, the rule was replaced by Presidential Regulation No. 95 of 2024, which cut the visa-free list to roughly 13 countries, mostly ASEAN member states. Visa Validity vs. Length of Stay
These are two different things. Visa validity is the window in which you must enter Indonesia after your visa is issued; for the e-VOA this is commonly 90 days from issue. Length of stay is how long you’re permitted to remain once you’ve entered, 30 days for a VOA/e-VOA, extendable once to 60. Entering on day 89 of your visa’s validity window still only gives you the standard stay length from your entry date, not from issue date.
Extending Your Stay
A VOA/e-VOA can be extended once, for another 30 days, taking your total permitted stay to 60 days. This is done in person at an immigration office within Indonesia before your current permission expires, not online and not at the airport. Bring your passport, visa, and the required fee. Apply for the extension before your current stay runs out rather than after.
The Bali Tourist Levy
Every foreign visitor to Bali pays a separate provincial levy of IDR 150,000, once per trip, through the official Love Bali platform. This is not a visa fee, not an immigration charge, and not related to Indonesian Immigration at all; it funds Balinese cultural and environmental programs. Pay it before you travel to avoid an airport queue.
Watch for scam lookalike sites
The only official domain is lovebali.baliprov.go.id. Multiple lookalike .com and .org sites, along with QR codes handed out in person or shared over messaging apps, have been reported charging inflated fees or harvesting card details. Type the official address yourself rather than clicking a link or scanning a code from anyone other than the official site.
The All Indonesia Arrival Card
Every arriving traveler completes the All Indonesia Arrival Card, which combines traveler details with the customs declaration, at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id, within 72 hours before arrival.
